Good morning,
I hope everyone is doing well.
This has been another very busy week for us here in the county. Last Saturday we had another high-speed pursuit. This pursuit was initiated at the Hot Spring - Dallas County line. The suspect vehicle was finally spiked on Highway 48 between Tulip and Carthage. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot where he was apprehended by Sergeant Jordan Ables.
There were several drug arrests made this week, along with criminal arrests. One incident occurred at Walmart in the afternoon that involved shoplifting. The Dallas County Sheriff's Office worked closely with Fordyce Police Department to recover over $1000.00 worth of stolen merchandise. After making contact with the suspects, a large number of narcotics were discovered after a brief search. These arrests are another great example of teamwork where two law enforcement agencies work closely.
As I reported earlier this week we had an illness-related death in our detention facility. I'm asking for prayers for the family of this inmate. The Arkansas State Police is conducting a full investigation into this matter which is normal protocol.
Mr. Rucker and his crew completed trash pickup on Barner Street and Cleveland Street on the first of the week. On Tuesday trash pickup on Highway 8 at the bypass to the landfill. On Wednesday, trash pickup at Highway 8-9 Junction to the Willow Road on Highway 9.
Thursday was spent assisting with the completion of renovations here at the jail. Today they are cleaning up around dumpsters in Holly Springs, Manning, and Princeton.
On a separate note, I want to mention that Dallas County has a vicious dog ordinance that was passed in 2012. We have been getting several reports of dogs killing livestock and other animals. If your dog can be identified as one of those responsible for committing such acts, you can be issued a ticket and be held civilly liable. Make sure if you own a dog that displays this kind of behavior you should keep it tied up or in a pen.
Once again, I want to brag and recognize all of my staff for their hard work and dedication to serving the citizens of Dallas County. If you run into one of our people, please thank them for the job they do each day to serve and protect you!
Onto Felony Friday!
