SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 3/20/2026

Good Morning,

Major Harmon here, Spring has finally arrived, and we couldn't be more excited about the change of season! Warmer weather, longer days, and everything starting to bloom again, it's a great time to be out and about in our county. Now...... if we could just have all this without the pollen, that'd be perfect. We're pretty sure the pollen count is somewhere between "slight inconvenience" and "why is my truck green?"

As usual, it has been a busy yet productive week here at the Sheriff's department. On Monday, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in Fordyce after receiving information regarding illegal drugs and firearms in the possession of a convicted felon.

During the search, deputies located evidence consistent with those reports. As a result, two individuals were taken into custody:

Joshua Jones and Christi Johnson.

Joshua Jones was charged with:

-possession of a firearm by certain persons

-possession of drug paraphernalia

-possession of a defaced firearm

-failure to comply with registry requirements

-possession of methamphetamine or cocaine

-simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms

Christi Johnson was charged with:

-possession of a firearm by certain persons

-possession of drug paraphernalia

-possession of a defaced firearm

-possession of methamphetamine or cocaine

-simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms

Yesterday, a deputy with the Sheriff's Department conducted a traffic stop for speeding. Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside. A subsequent search yielded more than 5 oz of marijuana and $960 in cash.

The individual was charged with:

-possession of a schedule VI-controlled substance

-possession of drug paraphernalia

-speeding

We remain committed to keeping our county safe and will continue to pursue those who violate the law.
