SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 4/02/2026

Good afternoon,

I'm bringing you the report a day early this week. I want to say I'm glad to be back reporting to you after taking a few days off to go turkey hunting with my son in Texas. Since then, I've passed one kidney stone and had another blasted. I pray that no one ever has to endure the pain of these things! Thank you to everyone on my team for taking care of business while I was away from the office. They never cease to amaze me with their work ethic and commitment to serving the citizens of Dallas County. A special thank you to Major Harmon for putting out the weekly report.

I want to remind everyone of the work being done on Highway 8 West at this time. A red light is installed for worker safety, and the speed limit is 25 mph through the marked work zones. If caught speeding in any of these work zones, fines will double. Please keep these highway department workers safe. Each year, some of these men and women are killed or severely injured due to speeding and distracted driving. Please do not use cell phones in these areas as well.

The Distracted Driver Campaign will run from April 6th to April 13th. You will see stepped-up law enforcement efforts during this time period in both construction zones and state highways.

Dallas County Deputies assisted the 13th Judicial Drug Task Force, Camden Police Department, and the Ouachita County Sheriff's Office in executing a search warrant this week. There were assorted narcotics seized during the execution of this search warrant. As I've said, we will continue to support our neighboring counties in the fight against drugs. Most of the drug dealers do not recognize county lines, and we will do everything we can to prevent them from peddling poison to our people.

In closing, I want to remind everyone about the scams we're seeing in our area. The Sheriff's Office will never text or call you asking for money. I have personally received a text this week saying I owed for unpaid parking tickets. Don't fall for these scams!
