Message From The Sheriff

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 4/02/2026
Good afternoon, I'm bringing you the report a day early this week. I want to say I'm glad to be back reporting to you after taking a few days off to go turkey hunting with my son in Texas. Since then, I've passed one kidney stone and had another blasted. I pray that no one ever has to endure the pain of these things! Thank you to everyone on my team for taking care of business while I was away from the office. They never cease to amaze me with their work ethic and commitment

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 3/27/2026
Good morning, Major Harmon here, I hope everyone has enjoyed a great Spring Break! I know the kids are really excited about heading back to school on Monday....😜 I want to take a moment to talk about a few important issues we're seeing in the county: -We've had reports of fake $20 dollar bills circulating. They may look real at first glance, but a closer look shows they are not. If you're receiving cash, please take a moment to check it carefully. Knowingly passing counter

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 3/20/2026
Good Morning, Major Harmon here, Spring has finally arrived, and we couldn't be more excited about the change of season! Warmer weather, longer days, and everything starting to bloom again, it's a great time to be out and about in our county. Now...... if we could just have all this without the pollen, that'd be perfect. We're pretty sure the pollen count is somewhere between "slight inconvenience" and "why is my truck green?" As usual, it has been a busy yet productive w

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 3/13/2026
Good morning, I hope everyone survived the storm that passed through with minimal damage. According to the weather service, an EF2 tornado passed near us earlier this week. However, the past two days have been really nice. Get out and enjoy it while you can. We have been busy continuing the investigation into the death of the three-year-old child I reported about that occurred two weeks ago. We are working closely with DHS to ensure the safety and well-being of other minor ch

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 3/06/2026
Good morning, Well, it seems like spring is here. While I'm not a hot-weather fan, it does mean the turkeys are gobbling. My favorite time of the year. I hope everyone is enjoying the change. I want to begin by echoing my comments on election night. I can't say how humbled I am to serve as your Sheriff again for the next four years. I never take for granted the support system we have in the county and the people we serve. I can assure you we will continue to work hard for you

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 2/27/2026
Good afternoon, I apologize that my weekly report is a little late. It's been a hectic few days here at the Sheriff's Office. As most of you who follow my page have seen from my news release, we have been busy investigating an accident where a small child was killed. This one hurts. The general public has no idea what we may see and experience at any time. We are human, and cases like this are never easy. Please pray for law enforcement every day. Early Thursday morning, we,

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 2/20/2026
Good morning, Major Harmon here. I am proud to present this week's report for Sheriff Knoedl. In an unexpected twist in the ongoing war on drugs, one citizen made enforcement easy this week by dropping a bag of methamphetamine in our lobby while putting money on another inmate's books. Deputies secured the evidence and handled the situation accordingly. We prefer proactive policing, but self-reporting is efficient. Mr. Simmons has had the trash pickup crew in full force wo

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 2/09/2026
Good morning, I put out a post earlier about our commitment to curtailing the drug activity in our county. I did not mention in my post that I have two Dallas County Deputies on the FBI Joint Task Force. This may not seem like a big deal, but it provides us with resources we don't have. The next thing is to have these cases prosecuted in the Federal Court. Below is a case we began investigating in 2024 and culminated in the arrest of someone selling poison to our community. I

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 2/06/2026
Good morning, Let me start by saying it has been a long week. I'm sure most of you have been seeing the updates I've been putting out on my page. I want to relay how proud I am of the working relationship we have with the Fordyce Police Department, the Arkansas State Police, and all surrounding counties. This is the one thing I worked extremely hard on when I became sheriff. I will be attaching a press release from the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern Dist

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 2/03/2026
Update: I am happy to announce that Ladarius Deshon Johnson from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, is now in custody for the recent fatal shooting that took a young man's life early Sunday morning at a birthday party. As I said earlier today, this was a senseless act of violence. I want to recognize the Fordyce Police Department for their initial response and investigation into the incident. SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - UPDATE 2/03/2026
Good afternoon, I wanted to send an update on some recent events this past week. It is with a heavy heart that we have lost two young people in our community. The first one involved a shooting at a birthday party where a young man lost his life. The second was a suicide. Both of these incidents are a sad reality of our society today. The shooting incident is under investigation by the Arkansas State Police, Fordyce Police Department, and the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. I

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 1/29/2026
Good afternoon, I am sending you my report a day early because I will be out of the office most of the day tomorrow. It's been a long week! I hope everyone has made it through icepocalypse 2026. I have done my best to keep everyone informed of the road conditions each day. I do think we dodged a major bullet with minimal freezing rain, which would have disabled a lot of power. As far as I know, I haven't heard of anyone losing power around the county. Please remember to stay

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 1/23/2026
Good morning, I hope everyone is prepared for the winter weather forecast for this weekend. It's anyone's guess as to what we will receive right now. I live by this motto: prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I'm certainly hoping and praying we can dodge a considerable ice accumulation. If we do have a buildup of ice, I would like you to stay away from areas around your residence with large trees. The last time we had an event such as this, we had several trees fall o

Good morning, It looks like we have some colder weather coming. Don't forget to protect your water pipes and pets and check on your neighbors. Bundle up and stay warm! I have attached some numbers for the end-of-the-year report on felony arrests, drug seizures, and illegal guns taken off our streets. I am very proud of the work that has been done since being elected as your sheriff. I would challenge anyone to look at a department of our size and compare the numbers. All the

Good morning! I don't know about you, but I don't like this unseasonably warm weather we've been experiencing. Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. I want to extend my gratitude to all my deputies and our Fordyce PD officers for their continued hard work, sacrifices, and dedication to our citizens in Dallas County. I see you and the difference you make. Also, a thankful shout-out to our jail employees, dispatchers, and our LEO friends in surrounding counties. I

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 1/02/2026
Good morning, Wow! What a busy time of the year with the holidays and business at the Sheriff's Office. First, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I wish I could report that criminal activity slowed down during the holidays, but that's not the case. Deputies were busy answering calls and working DWI Checkpoints. I will post the final numbers for arrests made during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign in my next report. I want to update everyone

SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 12/31/2025
Good afternoon, I wanted to put out a message about an incident this morning. Two Dallas County Deputies and a Fordyce Police Officer were involved in a shooting while attempting to arrest a probation and parole absconder. The suspect also had an active felony FTA warrant. The Arkansas State Police is on the scene and will lead the investigation. I am blessed to report that no law enforcement officers were injured during this incident.
