SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 1/29/2026

Good afternoon,
I am sending you my report a day early because I will be out of the office most of the day tomorrow.
It's been a long week! I hope everyone has made it through icepocalypse 2026. I have done my best to keep everyone informed of the road conditions each day. I do think we dodged a major bullet with minimal freezing rain, which would have disabled a lot of power. As far as I know, I haven't heard of anyone losing power around the county. Please remember to stay vigilant until all of this ice melts off our roads. It is still getting below freezing at night, and the streets will refreeze, creating black ice, which can be deadly.
With this week spent on weather-related issues, I want to address something significant to me. We posted a subject on our warrant on Wednesday that drew some criticism from a few people. It made me wonder why some people worry more about the suspect than the victim of a crime. The person in question burglarized a local business and was arrested with a firearm from that business. He pled guilty to that crime and was sentenced to the Alternative Sentencing Program (which is a great program for first offenders and would have wiped his record clean); however, he decided not to follow the ASP rules. He made that decision; no one made him turn his back on this wonderful chance. Because he ignored his obligations, the Circuit Judge issued a warrant for his arrest. It is one of my office's duties to find offenders with outstanding warrants and bring them in to stand before the Judge. I want to make myself perfectly clear: I work for any victim of crimes committed in Dallas County. However, anyone who knows me is aware that I'm also here to help anyone struggling with addiction issues when they request it. I'm also about second chances. I don't believe the answer to all of our problems is locking everyone up and throwing away the key. Sometimes people need a break to get back on their feet and return to everyday life. Lastly, this is a big one I want to address. There are a few people who want to make everything a racial issue. Anyone who has known me for over five minutes knows that is not who I am. I will not bite on those very few people who want to do this. I have always been committed to enforcing the law regardless of race, religion, or economic status. I challenge anyone to prove differently since I've been your sheriff. I am here to help EVERYONE who needs help! Just review my record.
I have come to realize that social media is a valuable tool that can be used positively. I also realize that it is used by a certain segment of our population today to gaslight certain situations. Most of these people are looking for two things: validation and recognition. All I ask is for anyone to get the facts before coming to a conclusion.
Felony Friday:
Dupree, Kashka of Fordyce; FPD Terroristic Threatening
Kaul, Marlo of Fordyce; FPD Disorderly Conduct
Williams, Zachary of Leola; Failure to Register-Failure to Comply
Oliver, Dillon of Fordyce; FPD Disorderly Conduct
God Bless
Sheriff Mike Knoedl
