Good morning,
Well, it seems like spring is here. While I'm not a hot-weather fan, it does mean the turkeys are gobbling. My favorite time of the year. I hope everyone is enjoying the change.
I want to begin by echoing my comments on election night. I can't say how humbled I am to serve as your Sheriff again for the next four years. I never take for granted the support system we have in the county and the people we serve. I can assure you we will continue to work hard for you every day! Thank you!
On Monday, a search warrant was served on a residence here in Fordyce, and one suspect was arrested. Ray Broughton was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to deliver x 2, maintaining a drug premises x 2, and criminal use of a communication device x 2. I want to thank the Fordyce Police Department, the 13th Judicial Drug Task Force, and the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office for their assistance in serving this warrant. I want to mention that we have a great working relationship with all of these agencies. We frequently go to their counties to assist them with similar situations.
This week continues to be another busy week here at the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. We have been busy with the ongoing investigation involving the death of a three-year-old child who was run over by a tractor operated by her stepfather. We made two arrests in connection with this incident and are awaiting additional evidence for processing.
On Wednesday, Corporal Dusty Walton assisted the Arkansas State Police with an incident on Highway 9 at Princeton with a suspect who had run into the woods. A K9 unit with Game & Fish was called to the scene and began to track the suspect. The suspect, a firearm, and drugs were seized in the woods. The suspect was charged with illegal narcotics, possession of a firearm by certain persons (convicted felon), and criminal mischief. Great job by Trooper Plyler and Corporal Walton.
I'm happy to report that Deputy Dusty Walton and Deputy Tim Wofford have been promoted to the rank of Corporal. If you see these two hard-working guys out and about, please thank them for their service.
