Good morning, Major Harmon here. I am proud to present this week's report for Sheriff Knoedl. In an unexpected twist in the ongoing war on drugs, one citizen made enforcement easy this week by dropping a bag of methamphetamine in our lobby while putting money on another inmate's books. Deputies secured the evidence and handled the situation accordingly. We prefer proactive policing, but self-reporting is efficient.
Mr. Simmons has had the trash pickup crew in full force working several areas of the county. Today, they are on West 4th St. in Fordyce and will be on Hwy 9 North of Princeton. As always, make sure to discard your trash appropriately to do your part in keeping Dallas County Beautiful.
We had our regularly scheduled monthly criminal court this past Wednesday, and several cases were adjudicated:
Jase Brock pled guilty to Violation of Uniform Machine Gun Act; Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule VI; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Fleeing. He was sentenced to 10 years in the ADC and 10 years SIS. He also has the normal costs and fees assessed.
Tonya Payne pled guilty to Theft of Property and was sentenced to 6 years Probation plus Restitution, costs, and fees.
Justin Smith pled guilty to Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule I or II and entered the Alternative Sentencing Program. He will also have the normal costs and fees.
Brandon Garner pled guilty to Criminal Mischief and was received a sentence of 1 year SIS plus restitution, costs, and fees.
Gary Campbell reached a plea agreement for Theft by Receiving and he received 1 year of Probation, fines, costs, and fees.
Christopher Walker pled guilty to DWI 1st Offense and was sentenced to 1 year SIS, fines, costs, and fees.
Christopher Pennington agreed to plead guilty to Damaging Wires & Other Fixtures of Telephone Cable & Electric Power Companies Property; Criminal Mischief and Theft of Property >$25,000. He was ordered to enroll in a rehab program, sentenced to 10 years SIS and must pay restitution, costs, and fees.
Lyquita Dockery pled guilty to Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule I/II and was sentenced to the ASP program plus costs and fees.
Several revocation hearings have been set for next month. More than 20 defendants' are considering plea offers from the State. Several cases have been added to the trial calendar.
