Good morning,
I hope everyone is prepared for the winter weather forecast for this weekend. It's anyone's guess as to what we will receive right now. I live by this motto: prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I'm certainly hoping and praying we can dodge a considerable ice accumulation. If we do have a buildup of ice, I would like you to stay away from areas around your residence with large trees. The last time we had an event such as this, we had several trees fall on houses, and people were injured and trapped inside their homes. The Dallas County Sheriff's Office is here to serve you and will be on call to assist in any way we can during this predicted storm. As always, be sure to check on your neighbors and take care of those animals during any inclement weather we may experience.
We are fueled up and ready respond this weekend to whatever we may get. Please don't hesitate to call upon us should you need assistance during the bad weather!
Last weekend, Deputy David Estes initiated a traffic stop, where, after probable cause was established, a search was conducted, and 59 grams of suspected methamphetamine were seized. The suspect was subsequently arrested and charged with driving on a suspended driver's license and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. We remain committed to combating illegal drugs here in Dallas County. I'll repeat it; we have a place for you if you want to peddle this poison in our communities! STOP, MOVE, or go to JAIL!
We had our monthly Felony Circuit Court on Wednesday. The following cases were adjudicated:
Daniel Jackson pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and received 5 years Probation, plus costs and fines
Shawnda McDaniel pled guilty to Commercial Burglary and Theft of Property and was sentenced to fines and restitution
Dollie Rogers pled guilty to Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was sentenced to 4 years CCC and fines
Joe Lea was found guilty of Revocation of Probation during a bench trial. He was sentenced to 10 years in the ADC plus costs and fines
