SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 03/21/2025

Good morning,

Another busy week here at the Sheriff's Office.

I want to begin this week by sharing a story I was told, which is a compliment to one of our deputies. Most of the time, we only hear complaints about law enforcement. Deputy Tim Wofford was called to the residence by a concerned family member of an Alzheimer's patient who was struggling with hallucinations. The patient became combative with family members upon Deputy Wofford's arrival. The family member I spoke with was so appreciative of Deputy Wofford and his patience with the situation. He was able to calm the patient down and stabilize the situation. My point is most people have no idea what law enforcement may encounter on any given day. We are not here to just arrest people! We are available to provide any medical assistance that we can and quite frequently referee disagreements from family disturbances to squabbles over a deer stand. This is just one positive story I wanted to share about a deputy going above and beyond in his duties. Be sure to thank those who wear the badge and gun in the culture we live in today.

Deputies were involved in fighting wildfires yesterday during the heavy winds. Once again, this is another example of how you never know what you may be doing from one minute to another as a law enforcement officer.

I would like to include a drug arrest made last week by Sergeant Jordan Ables. A substantial amount of methamphetamine was seized during a traffic stop last weekend. There were also some DWI arrests made.

I want to mention an upcoming event being held at Fordyce School in the cafeteria on April 1 at 6:00 p.m. Miss Krissy Rainey at Fordyce Schools has asked us to conduct a training event for both parents and children, warning them of the dangers of the Internet. As most of you are aware, we recently experienced an incident involving a young lady who was picked up by a person from Texas with whom she had been communicating online. This training is free of charge, and we welcome you to attend. We will have some professional investigators in attendance to speak and answer questions.

Mr. Simmons and crew completed litter pickup on Highway 229 to the Bunn community and Highway 273 to Highway 167.

A quick note: Dallas County will be changing its ambulance services from Pro Med to Valor, as approved by a unanimous vote from the Quorum Court on Tuesday night. I want to assure everyone there will be no break in service during this transition.

We had our monthly Criminal Circuit Court this week and had a few cases adjudicated:

ADC concurrent to his Grant County charges
