SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 04/05/2024

Good morning,

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this nice weather. I know everyone is looking forward to the eclipse coming up on Monday. Please remember if you're out traveling there may be some issues on major highways/interstates. We are hoping it doesn't cause any big problems here in our county, but we are prepared for anything that may arise. We have worked closely with all local and state law enforcement agencies to prepare.

If you haven't heard Sparkman will be hosting a sanctioned event involving Chuckwagon races. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the various events tied to the races. There will be events specifically for the kids to participate. That said, there will be zero tolerance for anyone drinking and causing problems.

Deputies have been busy this week again working on several vehicle accidents. If you have been out and about, you probably noticed a stepped-up law enforcement presence. Deputies and Arkansas State Police are working overtime on the National Distracted Driving campaign this week. They are looking for distracted drivers who may be impaired or speeding on our state and federal highways. I will be giving you the final numbers when this special operation is completed. We are also working on several drug-related cases that are continuing investigations.

Mr. Rucker and his crew cleaned up the city park at Sparkman and city streets around the park. On Tuesday they cleaned around the Pine Grove area and cleaned up around the area dumpsters there. They mowed the Fordyce Senior Citizens building here in Fordyce. They have spent the end of the week working on a new building that houses our radio system repeaters that were in dire need of repair. Finally, Mr. Rucker and his crew spent two days picking up on Hwy 273 from Hwy 79 to Hwy 9.

Now it's time for Felony Friday!
