Good morning,
Cottonbelt week is here! I want to invite everyone to our town festival to enjoy some of our rich heritage. I also want to remind everyone to act right while they're here. We will be working with the Fordyce Police Department to ensure everyone has a good time and stays safe while at the festival.
I want to begin by wishing all the turkey hunters good luck this opening week. I've been able to sneak in a couple of hunts and had some success Tuesday morning. I've been blessed this year to spend some quality time with my son and granddaughter this spring. It is good for a person to step away for a minute, relax, and rewind occasionally.
The week began by assisting the Arkansas State Police with a fatality accident on Highway 9. Deputies and emergency crews responded to help with the injuries. Unfortunately, the female passenger succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was transported via helicopter and remains in critical condition at the time. Deputies, along with the Fordyce Police Department, conducted a home visit on a probationer to make sure they were conforming to the probation conditions. We continue to work on drug investigations weekly.
