Good morning!
I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather we've been having.
We've had a busy week here at the Sheriff's Office. Over the past few days, we've answered several domestic relations calls with varying degrees of criminality.
In one of those domestic incidents, Garland County assisted us in arresting an individual and getting him into custody.
Also, we arrested Phillip Tyler Evans, a wanted felon in Dallas, Calhoun, and Ouachita counties, after an extensive manhunt over several days. With help from those two counties and officers from Arkansas Game and Fish, Arkansas State Police, and Grant County deputies, we were able to take him into custody without incident. He is facing various charges involving drugs, firearms, and felonious failure to appear in multiple counties.
Mr. Kerry and his crew have been hard at work this week cleaning up our roadways throughout various areas in the county.
Earlier this week, Jarquez Cooksey, of Fordyce, took a plea deal offered by the State and was sentenced to 5 years probation, costs, and fees for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
I wish all the moms out there a Happy Mother's Day. I hope you all have someone who fills that "Mother" role for you.
I want to recognize the ladies who work in our business offices. These ladies keep the wheels turning on our day-to-day operations and do a good job. I appreciate each and every one of them. They keep the dots on our I's and the crosses on our T's. If you see Liz Jackson, Pam Simmons, or Penny McClain, please join me in telling them job well done.
We are taking applications in our detention center. If you are interested in working with us, please come by and pick up an application.
