SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 06/07/2024

Good morning,

It's been a busy week here at the Sheriff's Office! If we could just get a little rain now.

As reported last week, we were assisting the Fordyce Police Department in investigating a break-in at our local Entergy office. This week, a lot of time was spent investigating this break-in tied to several other Entergy offices. I want to commend/recognize several law enforcement agencies in the surrounding areas. The suspects were arrested Tuesday evening by Pine Bluff Police Department. The agencies involved were Stuttgart Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Grant County Sheriff's Office, and Corporate Security (Entergy). The two suspects are being held in Jefferson County Detention Facility at this time. They are accused of stealing over 150K worth of copper from six different burglaries. I want to give out a huge shoutout to all of the agencies involved in working together with us to put these people behind bars!

We have worked several accidents this week due to hydroplaning. One of these accidents was very serious involving injuries on Highway 167. If you're out driving in these conditions, please slow down and be prepared to encounter standing water on all roads. It only takes a split second to lose control during heavy rains.

I want to thank everyone for the prayers sent out for Major Mike Foster's daughter, Madison. She is out of the hospital and receiving therapy. She is expected to make a full recovery!

Mr. Rucker has been off again some this week healing from a recent surgery. He will be back next week in full force with his work crew.

We have received several calls concerning bears over the past few weeks. If you encounter a bear around your house or hunting camp, please let Game & Fish know about it. If you have one around your residence, please make sure all outside food sources are put away and they will eventually move on. The number for Arkansas Game & Fish is 1-800-482-9262.
