Good afternoon,
I want to start by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. There will be no weekly report next week due to the holidays, and I am posting this week's report a day early. I hope everyone gets to spend some quality time with family and friends and remembers the reason for the season. As we approach the start of a new year, I want to thank everyone for the support you have shown us at the Sheriff's Office. Next, I want to thank all of my employees here at the Sheriff's Office. I'm so blessed to have the staff who work hard every day to ensure business is taken care of. The key to success is surrounding yourself with the best possible people, and I appreciate them more than I can express!
On Tuesday afternoon, deputies were standing outside the Sheriff's Office and heard a vehicle burning its tires below the Fordyce Police Department. As Deputies responded, they observed a black Dodge Charger and initiated a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle fled. After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle lost control and struck a light pole. At this time, four suspects fled the scene, while the vehicle's driver remained behind. The Fordyce Police Department, along with Dallas County Deputies, pursued the suspects on foot, and all five were eventually arrested. There were guns and drug paraphernalia seized from the suspect's vehicle. I'm going to say this one more time: We are committed to taking guns and drugs off our streets. I want to thank the Fordyce Police Department for being right there and working with us on this case.
It is the holiday season, and scammers are active. We have received calls from individuals reporting that someone from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office called and asked them to send money to pay outstanding warrants. We will NEVER call anyone about an outstanding warrant. If someone contacts you about sending money you don't know about, please ask them to leave a name and number, and you will contact them after checking. NEVER give out personal information such as checking account or credit card numbers.
Remember, the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign will continue through January 1st.
Make wise decisions and don't drink and drive or have a designated driver!
We had our monthly Circuit Court this week, and several cases were adjudicated. The
