Good afternoon,
I hope everyone enjoyed a great week! My report is coming to you a day early this week. It has been busy here as always, but I'm happy to report that things have been better each day since the incident in our community.
I cannot tell you how proud it makes me to see how our people have responded and reached out to assist in any way they can. I want to report that almost $74,000.00 has been turned over to the victim's first organization to be dispersed to the victims and their families to help out financially. This money was raised through the account I set up at Fordyce Bank & Trust early on. Anyone can still donate to the Arkansas Community Foundation at Arcf.org/Fordyce. I encourage anyone who can donate even if it's just $5.00. Many of the victims have a long road to recovery and can use financial assistance now. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers each day as God places his healing hand on them.
We are currently working on several thefts around the county. We've had a substantial copper theft, fraudulent credit card use, and a gas theft. We have identified suspects in each case and are working on obtaining warrants for their arrest. I want to recognize and thank the deputies involved in these investigations.
Mr. Rucker and crew have been busy picking up trash on CR 409 to the Tulip church, CR 235, 145, 209, 201, and all of 205. He also assisted the city in digging out the fountain on Main Street for repair and maintenance.
Please remember that the National Speed Mobilization operation continues until the 31st of July. Law enforcement across the state will be enforcing posted speed limits to ensure everyone's safety.
I'm including information on how to sign up for Dallas County CodeRed Alerts. I cannot stress how important receiving these alerts can be to you as a Dallas County resident. You will receive important weather information or important safety information, just to name a few of the types of notifications you could receive. For example, the Sheriff's Office could relay information to you via email or text regarding manhunts or other law enforcement activities that you would need to stay safe and informed. Please click the following link for information and instructions on how to sign up for Dallas County CodeRed Alerts.
On a personal note, I will be taking a few much-needed days off next week. Major Mike Foster will be in charge, and I can assure you the county will be in good hands.
