SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 09/06/2024

Writer's picture: Mike KnoedlMike Knoedl

Good morning,

I hope everyone enjoyed the previous holiday weekend. Hopefully, the cooler weather is coming in to stay for a minute.

Once again, we have been busy here at the Sheriff's Office. Several successful DWI checkpoints were conducted last weekend. I will be bringing you those statistics as soon as they are compiled. I can report three DWI arrests were made, along with several drug arrests. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I want to commend our Deputies on their hard work while conducting these checkpoints. Many of the hours they put in were during some hot temperatures. If you've never worn body armor during the summer, you can't understand how miserable it can be. I'm proud of their work and dedication to keeping our county safe! I can't forget to mention our detention officers and 911 Dispatchers who work night and day to keep our citizens safe. If you see one of these hard-working people out and about, please show your appreciation for their sacrifices.

Yesterday, a felony pursuit originated out of Camden. The pursuit continued through Ouachita, Calhoun, and into Dallas County where spike strips were deployed. Fortunately, the suspect decided to stop before hitting the spike strips and was taken into custody without further incident. We assisted the Bradley County Sheriff's Department with our drone searching for a burglary suspect who had fled from deputies into the woods.

I want to give a huge shout-out to Fordyce Police Department. The working relationship between our agencies is alive and well. We work closely every day to ensure we are serving our constituents well. My sincere gratitude to Chief Chad Hubanks for making this happen.

Mr. Rucker and his crew are busy as always. They spent most of the week painting the inside of the Chamber of Commerce building. On Thursday, they worked to repair a leaking water line at the detention facility/sheriff's office. They will be cleaning up at the football field today.
