Good morning,
It's been a hectic week here at the Sheriff's Office. On Saturday night, Sergeant Jordan Ables and Deputy Dusty Walton were involved in a vehicle pursuit that began in Hot Spring County. The suspect vehicle crossed over into Dallas County, where Sergeant Ables was the lead vehicle in the pursuit. It was determined that the car was stolen in Faulkner County. After a short pursuit, Sergeant Ables performed a TVI (Tactical Vehicle Intervention). The suspect vehicle was disabled, and the suspects were taken into custody. The suspects were turned over to Hot Spring County law enforcement.
On Monday, a traffic stop was conducted where drugs and a hand grenade simulator were located. (See Photo) The Arkansas State Police Bomb Squad was contacted, and it will be destroyed safely. The moral to this story is to explain the dangers of any traffic stop. I've heard the term "routine traffic stop". There is no such thing in law enforcement. This suspect was arrested for the drugs, and the investigation continues into the explosive device.
A circuit court session was held on Wednesday, and several cases were adjudicated. We have experienced a backlog of cases and are finally getting many of these cases through the court.
