Good morning,
I hope everyone is enjoying the opening week of deer season. Hopefully, the cooler weather returns here soon.
The week started off with a bang on Sunday when an investigation turned into a pursuit on Highway 79. A suspect was stopped and questioned briefly when he decided to slam the door and flee from Sergeant Jordan Ables and an Agent with the 13th Judicial Drug Task Force. A short pursuit was terminated with the use of a TVI, which resulted in the suspect crashing his vehicle. After first aid was rendered to the suspect, there were 5 pounds of methamphetamine and two pounds of marijuana seized from inside the truck. (see attached picture) Dallas County Deputies and Agents from the task force are still investigating at this time. This is a tremendous seizure given the amount of methamphetamine that was seized. This is a prime example of how our communities are being poisoned by these harmful drugs. I made a vow when elected to combat the drug issues that continue to plague our county and the surrounding counties. These drugs that are being sold and bought only perpetuate other serious crimes. We have a great working relationship with the surrounding counties, as well as the FBI, the 13th Judicial Drug Task Force, and the Fordyce Police Department, among others. If re-elected as your Dallas County Sheriff, I pledge to continue utilizing every available resource to combat drugs in our community.
As a side note to this message, we now have two Deputies assigned to the FBI Joint Task Force. One Deputy is assigned primarily to work with federal authorities to prosecute the bigger drug cases in federal court. The other Deputy assigned to the FBI Task Force works closely with federal agents to investigate child pornography and missing or abducted children. These are both issues we take very seriously.
It's not too late to sign up for our 3rd annual Shop With A Cop program. It is open to any Dallas County Child aged 12 and under. Call 870-352-2002 and sign up. We are also still taking donations for the program. You may go to FBT Bank and tell them you want to donate and they will fix you up.
We are hosting a Retirement reception for two deputies retiring at the end of this year. Major Mike Foster and Deputy Bill Rogers have served this county and its citizens with distinction and pride. Major Foster has been with us for three years, having retired from the Arkansas State Police, and Bill Rogers has been with us for 21 years. We recognize and commend them for their hard work, sacrifices, and dedicated service to Dallas County. They will both be deeply missed, and we extend to them our best wishes for a happy retirement. The reception will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Temple Baptist Church Life Center, located across from the courthouse, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to stop by and express gratitude to these deputies for their service to all of us.
