SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 7/11/2025

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is staying cool in this heat. I'm running a little behind today on getting my report out.

I want to address an issue that is becoming more prevalent these days. More and more people want to record traffic stops, and we are perfectly fine with that until you begin to impede any investigation that is ongoing. We had two instances last week where someone was arrested and should not have been. Stand back and record all you want, but do not impede the officer's investigation. When this happens, you will be arrested. The next thing is that people are requesting a supervisor on the scene. Apparently, this is becoming popular on TikTok videos and going viral. There is no law requiring law enforcement or a suspect to request a supervisor to respond to a simple traffic stop. It happens more frequently that a simple traffic stop turns into a trip to jail when it didn't have to. Please cooperate with the officer, produce requested documents, and attend court if you think the charge/ticket is unwarranted. It really is simple! One last recommendation: Be respectful and polite to the officer, and you may be surprised how respectful and polite they will be to you! Following these simple steps may save you from additional charges and going to jail.

As you can see from our felony Friday report, it has been a busy week. Several arrests were made during the DWI Mobilization this past weekend. These arrests range from illegal drugs, warrants, and DWI. I am happy to report we did not have any serious traffic accidents during the holiday weekend.

Just so you know, the speed mobilization operation will continue until July 31st. You will see stepped-up law enforcement during this period to slow traffic down and avoid high-speed accidents. Most serious injury accidents are attributed to excessive speed. Watch your speed and be sure to buckle up!
