Good morning,
All I can say about the weather is that the oven is still on high. Although, the little showers yesterday have certainly helped. Hopefully, we are supposed to get a little reprieve this weekend.
I started off the week at Russellville, speaking at a conference with assorted emergency first responders, talking about the response to the mass shooting in Fordyce. Unfortunately, in today's culture, everyone needs to realize that an event like this can happen anywhere. It was well attended, and I want to commend Arkansas State Police Colonel Mike Hager for organizing these meetings around the state to hopefully prepare other agencies in case they were to encounter a similar incident.
I want to address the county dumpster situation again. We continue to have issues with people placing non-permitted items outside the dumpsters, including building materials, furniture, and mattresses. This week alone, we have received several complaints about this. I am happy to announce we have made one arrest this week for this activity. There are cameras in place on several of these dumpsters, and more are going up next week. These types of items are to be taken to the Dallas County landfill for proper disposal. I can assure you it's much cheaper to take and dispose of these items properly than a $1000.00 fine. Please STOP doing this before we lose the dumpsters permanently!
The Arkansas Legislature passed over 1000 new Acts in the 2025 General Assembly Session. Some are new, and some are changing previous Acts. Some have already gone into effect, and many of them will go into effect next week. For those interested, visit the AR Legislature Home General Assembly page to read the Acts via a link provided.
