Good morning,
Another busy week in the books at the Sheriff's office. We have been investigating an incident involving cruelty to animals, and we're about to wrap up. I will be talking about this case more at a later date. If you follow social media at all, you see these cases daily. If you decide you want to own any animal, please be prepared to take care of it. Hardly a week goes by that we are not investigating some neglect or cruelty to an animal case here in Dallas County. It is heartbreaking to see how evil some people can be to animals. I want to mention how fortunate we are here to have Morning Meadow Animal Rescue in our county. We work closely with them on any case of abuse and will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law!
On Tuesday, Deputies were dispatched to a serious accident involving a log truck. The loaded truck overturned on CR 205 where the driver was trapped inside. Numerous emergency personnel responded to get the trapped driver out of the vehicle. It took almost two hours before he was extricated and evaluated by medical personnel. Med flight was called to the scene, and he was transported to UAMS with non-life-threatening injuries.
Last Friday, I was honored to be asked to introduce Senator Tom Cotton, who was the guest speaker at a Dallas County fundraiser. The event was well-attended, and the food and fellowship were even better. I want to commend everyone who worked hard to plan and put this event on. Several of our deputies were in attendance to provide security for the event.
We are remembering the victims and heroes of 9/11 this week. May we always remember them.
In closing, we have been investigating a deer camp burglary where several firearms and archery equipment were taken. I'm happy to announce that a suspect was arrested and is resting comfortably in the Dallas County jail at this time. I want to recognize Deputy Tim Wofford and Deputy Dusty Walton for their work to bring this case to a close. Most of the stolen items have been recovered.
I want to ask that you be in prayer for our receptionist/front office clerk, Liz Jackson. She is facing some crucial health issues and is scheduled for some major surgery early next week. Please join us in praying for Liz and her doctors during this serious time. She is a vital member of our office family and a genuinely kind lady. Your prayers are important.
